The 43-year-old man was driving along the M1 in Cooranbong, in the Lake Macquarie region of NSW, when he was pulled over by Northern Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Jeff Loy. The ill-advised driver felt the long arm of the law after allegedly tailgated the officer before hurtling past him during torrential rains. Spanish cafe owner charges rude customers more and cuts prices for those who say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’: “Good manners cost nothing, as the expression goes. Bad manners, on the other hand, come at a price, a café owner in Spain has decided. Now customers who are rude when they order their coffee will be charged an extra £1.68 (€2) when they get their bill. The unusual measure has been introduced at Restaurant Blau Grifeu, in Llanca, on the Costa Brava coastline. The idea is simple – if you’re polite and pleasant to staff when you order, your coffee will cost you £2.52 (€3). If you’re rude, a coffee will cost you a lot more, at £4.20 (€5). And there are bonus discounts to had as well – if you say ‘please’ and wish the barista ‘buenos dias’, your drink will cost just €1.30 – the equivalent of £1.09. Owner Marisel Valencia Madrid believes it has made a huge difference, The Times reports.”

Body of German woman missing for 40 years found by man renovating father’s attic: “A German man has made a startling discovery after finding the body of a woman in his father’s attic – 40 years after she was reported missing. The 33-year-old man, who has not been named in reports, had been renovating the loft in his father’s house in Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony when he unearthed the woman’s skeleton, which was covered in leaves and straw. Police said they received a call about the “very unusual” discovery on 28 August and found the skeleton in a lying position wearing several jackets, trousers and shoes, the German newspaper Bild reports. Following a post-mortem and dental analysis of the skeleton, authorities believe the bones belong to a 28-year-old woman who disappeared in 1977, five kilometres from the house. According to authorities, the woman had disappeared before and had a history of mental illness, police said. Her husband died in 2012″

Car rolls into water after spider scares teen driver while parked at a boat ramp: “The 18-year-old woman had just pulled up at the Bayview Boat Ramp, on the northern beaches, when a large huntsman spider dropped out from under the visor. The girl leapt out of the car “and started doing a spider dance” to try and get the arachnid off her, witnesses said. As she was shooing it off her legs, however, her Volkswagen sedan gently rolled towards the water. With the car in neutral and the handbrake only half on, it was floating within 30 seconds of her getting out. “The car just started to roll in. The spider didn’t bite her.” He said the girl stood there in complete shock until others came over to help her. By the time police divers arrived on the scene, the car had already sunk. The vehicle was 25m from the beach and so needed to be towed back in”

Man beats lying bus driver: “A SUPER-sleuth father has saved thousands of dollars after proving his car was sideswiped by an Adelaide Metro bus, despite denials from the driver and bus company’s insurer. “I spotted a CCTV camera at the intersection and contacted the Holdfast Bay Council who said the camera belonged to them,” Mr Reilly said. “The council kindly agreed to review the footage when the crash took place and they forwarded it to police who shared it with me.” The vision shows Lachlan’s car being rocked from side to side as the big bus scrapes by and continues its journey down Jetty Rd. Mr Reilly said police told him they would be speaking to the bus driver and investigating if any charges would be laid.
