Odd news from around the world

Bridesmaids reveal the most outrageous requests they’ve received from demanding bridezillas: “Bridesmaids have revealed the insane requests asked of them by over-the-top bridezillas. The disgruntled members of the wedding parties took to anonymous sharing website Whisper to share their horror stories. One woman said she was even asked to attempt to seduce the groom because it would void the couple’s pre-nuptial agreement. ‘Flirt with the groom,’ her submission said, ‘If he got caught cheating it’d make the prenuptial null and void.’ Other brides were keen to include the bridesmaids in the extreme lengths they would go to in a effort to create the perfect day. One said the bride: ‘Gave us all lubricating eye drops and asked us to simulate crying after her vows.’ Another theatrical bride was keen for the bridesmaid to dunk the bouquets of flowers in liquid nitrogen and smash it at the feet of her and her groom as they kissed. Shockingly another was asked to undergo surgery and have a breast reduction to fit into the same dress as the smaller-busted bridesmaids”

Build a better toilet roll holder and the world …: “Reddit users have gone wild over this ‘revolutionary’ toilet paper holder that cuts down the time and effort of replacing a roll. The holder uses a simple mechanism which includes holding prongs split in half which move in an upward direction when a roll is being replaced and snap back into place in the core of the new roll. A GIF posted online showing how the mechanism works has been viewed over four million times and commented on over 390 times since it was uploaded in September last year. Users commented their disbelief saying the mechanism was ‘some sort of witchcraft’ while others were less impressed and shared their nostalgia for the days of spring pipe holders. One user said: ‘I like it when I’m careless and the springy cylinder splits into two cylinders across the room and the spring falls in the toilet.’ A similar mechanism known as the EZ-Load Toilet Paper Holder has been featured on Amazon and can be installed in your home for under $15”

Car that can park ANYWHERE: Car with wriggly tires moves in all directions: “Parking just got a whole lot easier. An impressive YouTube video showcases an amazing set of wheels that enables all vehicles to move in all directions and to rotate on the spot 360 degrees. English Inventor Matthew Liddiard can be seeing trying out the tyres on his Toyota Echo – and soon we’ll all be after some. The car moves almost mesmerisingly from side to side as well as on the spot with an effortless elegance. The tyres roll perpendicular to the vehicle’s body instead of parallel as the car appears to almost glide. The Londoner stresses that these omni-capable wheels are a world first bolt-on application which are very easy to use and require no modifications. He adds that they’re designed to be used in all weather and road conditions. ‘They are stronger, faster, and more accurately controlled than prior art. They can take a beating,’ he said”

A drunk driver allegedly hit and killed a homeless pedestrian, then drove for a mile with his body wedged in her windshield: “Stacy Sanchez, 29, was arrested outside her Oceanside, California, home on Monday morning after she walked away from her wrecked car with the victim still stuck inside. Police say she smashed into the pedestrian on the sidewalk after drinking all night. Her speed sent him flying through the windshield with such force that his head was resting on the passenger seat. Witnesses told Fox 5 San Diego Sanchez got out of the car screaming when she arrived back in the cul-de-sac where she lived. She then walked around the corner and entered her home. When paramedics arrived, they pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. He is believed to have been walking to a soup kitchen when he was knocked down. Residents in the area said he was homeless, but they didn’t know his name. Sanchez was taken into custody and she is now facing drunk driving charges”

British council workers paint a bus stop around a parked car… then slap the driver with a £55 fine: “A pair of mechanics were left bemused after a bungling council allegedly painted a partially-finished bus stop around their parked vehicle – before slapping them with a £55 fine. The pair, who run A&A Motors in Welling, south east London, have been working in the region for the past two decades and say they have never received a parking ticket. Mr Sinclair, who described the £55 fine from Bexley Council as ‘unbelievable’, has now successfully appealed the notice. He said: ‘They put a bus sign up in the bay and for some unknown reason just put the word “stop”. ‘It is a bit unbelievable but then again, it’s not in this day and age. You read about these stories and laugh.’ Despite seeing the funny side of the fine, the pair are concerned that the bus stop will take away valuable parking spaces in the town”
