But not for long. In Florida

Odd news from around the world

British Keystone Kops at it again: “Police chiefs are investigating how two marked police vehicles were involved in a head-on collision with each other on a quiet country road. Stunned motorists spotted the wreckage of the patrol car and police van, after they hit each other in broad daylight with little other traffic around. Two officers sustained minor injuries, and the crash demolished a Victorian post box which had been in use for 120 years an Penpont, near Brecon, mid-Wales. The marked police Vauxhall van and the Ford Kuga patrol car were left blocking the road following the crash. Traffic was stopped on the road between Brecon and Sennybridge for 90 minutes to allow breakdown trucks to tow the vehicles away. But police refused to confirm whether or not the vehicles had crashed because they were speeding to a 999 emergency call. One motorist who arrived on the scene minutes afterwards said: ‘I can’t understand how it happened. It was a clear day on a straight stretch of road. ‘The vehicles hit each other head-on and it caused a lot of damage. It was fortunate no-one was killed.”

Ancient mansion still going strong: “A mansion that traces its history back 1,000 years and even gets a mention in the Domesday Book has gone on sale for £1.5million. Thomas Sheriff Place is part of Henley Park- which has passed through the hands of two English kings and dates back to the 11th century – when it was owned by a Saxon named Azor, who was a personal guard of Edward the confessor. The grade II listed property boasts a reception hall, five bedrooms including a master suite and a drawing room and is situated near Guildford in Surrey. The site is thought to have originated as a hunting lodge with the mansion and estate at Henley Park developing under a succession of royal and noble owners until it finally passed into private hands around 1630. The property is even mentioned in the Domesday Book – a manuscript record of the ‘Great Survey’ of much of England and parts of Wales completed in 1086 by order of King William the Conqueror. According to Domesday records, Henley Park was once valued at £6.”

Radical beer-tasting in Germany: “A group of people were filmed tasting a selection of Craft beers for the first time and the varied reactions were hilarious. In the clip, the participants – who for some reason all appear to be naked – each hold a glass filled with a different beer. Some act quite sophisticated – one woman sniffs the froth at the top of her drink, while another man looks at the side of his glass as if trying to work out what it is. Some smile and others grimace as they taste Craft Beer. They then each bring their respective glasses to their lips and the taste test ensues. One woman, who samples Schwarzbier – a dark lager made in Germany – beams with delight after the liquid touches her lips. While in stark opposition a man recoils after taking a slurp of smoked beer – a type of drink with a distinctive flavour created with malted barley that has been dried over an open flame. Another woman goes cross-eyed after taking a sip of some regular lager and a man, who seems to have found his perfect drink, smacks his lips together in satisfaction.”

Did a dog do it?

Twitter mocks British Muslim campaigner after he claims MOSSAD sneaked into his home and stole a single shoe: “A British Muslim campaigner faced online ridicule after he claimed ‘Zionists’ had sneaked into his home and stolen a single shoe. In a public Facebook post, Asghar Bukhari, a founding member of the Muslim Public Affairs Committee UK, said someone had tried to intimidate him by taking his footwear as he slept. He wrote: the ‘game was simple – to make me feel vulnerable in my own home’, before adding ‘it is not the first time I have heard this happening’. Within hours, the rant had prompted dozens of mocking tweets, with the hashtags #MossadStoleMyShoe and #ShoeishConspiracy trending on Twitter, with one user telling him to ‘put a sock in it’. In response, he issued a bizarre, 15-minute YouTube rant in which he said, ‘they’re stealing people’s homes in Palestine. You think a shoe is a big deal for them?’ It continued: ‘It is not the first time I have heard this happening.

Woman realises she’s wearing exactly the same outfit… as the FLOOR: “Bumping into someone wearing the same outfit is considered by many to be the ultimate fashion faux pas. But how about realising you have matched your clothes with the floor? This young woman walked into a room and discovered that her two-tone dress blended perfectly with the rug she was standing on and the patterned linoleum below. But rather than dash home for a quick wardrobe change, the woman saw the funny side of the situation and lay down to document the hilarious moment in a picture. The top part of the woman’s sleeveless maxi dress, covered in a dappled multi-coloured print, matches what appears to be the linoleum floor. While the bottom part of the garment, made from a more flowing fabric, is the exact same colour of blue as the carpet. She is also seen with her hands over her face – perhaps wanting to keep her identity secret from the fashion police.”
