Las Vegas Churches accept gambling chips
March 7, 2011 at 5:51 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 CommentTHIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN LAS VEGAS , BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS.
NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED.
SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS..
THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN.
THIS IS DONE BY THE CHIP MONKS.
YOU DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING DID YOU? –

Odd news from around the world
Women fear men with deep voices are more likely to cheat on them, study finds: “Men with deep voices are more likely to cheat on their partners, women believe. And men feel that if a woman has a high-pitched voice, she is more likely to be unfaithful. The authors of the first study to examine the connection between voice pitch and fidelity say the findings show insights into how we pick our partners. The connection is down to hormones – the more testosterone a man has, the lower his voice, and the more oestrogen a woman has, the higher her voice is likely to be. Researchers at Canada’s McMaster University asked people to listen to recorded clips of a male and female voice, which were electronically altered to become higher or lower pitched. They were then asked to rate which one from each pair was more likely to cheat”

A prize funeral: “It’s not the kind of prize that one picks up in person. Germany’s undertakers, embalmers and grave diggers are up in arms about a radio competition that offers listeners the chance to win a luxury funeral. All the contestants have to do – and some 650 have already entered – is compose the most original or witty epitaph for their gravestone. The lucky winner of a grand euros 3,000 burial – complete with marble headstone, wreath, gratuities for the grave diggers and transport from church to cemetery – will be announced on Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent and is traditionally a sombre day. However, the competition immediately wiped the smiles from the faces of German undertakers. The Association of German Morticians is now taking the station to court. “The campaign is without respect for the dead and is amoral,” Rolf Lichtner, the secretary-general of the association, said. The winner of the contest will be given free funeral insurance – and therefore does not need to die immediately to claim his winnings.”

The moment a clever squirrel uses a giant fungus as a platter: “This is the moment a clever squirrel balances a hoard of nuts on a giant fungus growing out of a tree and uses it – as a PLATTER. Wildlife photographer Mark Hancox, 48, captured the incredible moment while he was on an expedition to the Cairngorms in Scotland two weeks ago. Mark, from Hartlebury, Worcs., said: ‘I love going to the Cairngorms because you never know what wildlife you might see. ‘I was actually looking for a rare bird when I came across this large fungus sticking out of a tree about four feet off the ground. I spotted this little red squirrel poke his head out from the top of the tree and scamper down to the fungus. ‘He jumped on top of it and started eating his nuts which he’d left on it. It was quite amazing and just shows how ingenious these animals are.’
Eurocrats allowed boob jobs, health spas and Viagra – under £3m scheme paid for by the TAXPAYER: “Nearly £3 million of taxpayers’ money will be spent this year by MEPs on health care, including cosmetic surgery, and on drugs such as Viagra. Leaked documents have revealed that the European Parliament’s 736 members and their families can claim for breast surgery, anti-ageing products and slimming treatments from a private health scheme. Taxpayers are also expected to fund at least two-thirds of the cost of trips to health spas under the lax medical expenses regime. In some cases MEPs can claim back the entire costs of treatment. The £2.9m budget for Euro MPs’ medical expenses also covers alternative therapies and new age treatments, including lymphatic drainage – a form of massage that advocates claim helps the body eliminate toxins.”

Those collection plate workers are considering going into the restaurant business now. They have a bunch of chip monks, so they are recruiting some fish friars.
